Towards a Circular Economy

‘Towards 2025’ is a global brand-led initiative committing to 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging by 2025 or earlier.

This initiative has gained support from major international organisations with a collaboration between the Ellen McArthur Foundation and UN Environment – producing a New Plastics Economy Global Commitment in October 2018.

The shift to a circular economy focuses on designing out waste and pollution, keeping products in use, and regenerating natural systems – a vital way of rethinking our economic progress.

Waste Management Hierarchy

The Waste Management Hierarchy is an internationally accepted guide, setting our
priorities for the most efficient use of resources.

Where the generation of waste cannot be avoided, waste needs to be available for reuse of recycling options.

Benefits of Recycling

Manufactured in Australia in HACCP certified facilities, the new Plastic Free Cups offer an environmentally friendly viable alternative to standard coffee cups – customers can be assured that the cups are able to be easily recycled.

Recycling presents multiple benefits:

  • It is backed by existing waste and resource recovery infrastructure
  • It keeps materials in the productive circular economy
  • It reduces the need for virgin materials while saving valuable resources from landfills
  • It has real economical value – recovered materials are processed to make paper and paper products

Recycling Steps

Our coffee cups are 100% recyclable due to their plastic free lining that allows them to be processed using current recycling infrastructure. When collected through co-mingled programs, the cups and lids are given a second life.

The new Plastic Free Cups offer a positive and practical solution – giving customers recycling opportunities within and beyond the business premises.

Recycling these cups is easy thanks to the wider access to Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs). The challenge is to send the cups in a way that allows them to be recycled.
